Starting the recovery process is daunting for anyone, many have been in residential rehabilitation before, others it will be their first time. The beauty of entering a Cape Town Rehab center is that the recovery community already exists outside the confines of the center. Once a person is prepared and ready to stop using drugs or alcohol or is ready to deal with their process addiction, a rehab facility offers them the chance to physically get away from the people, places and things that aided their addiction but also the chance to address the underlying issues, the reasons that they needed to alter the way they were feeling in the first place.
The initial few days can be disorientating and can also be uncomfortable if the person is experiencing withdrawal from drugs or alcohol. Withdrawal is often a necessary part of rehabilitation but at our Cape Town Rehabs we have professional medical staff on board to make the process as comfortable as possible. Following the detox, a slow integration into rehab life is begun. All the centers follow strict, packed programs involving a strong community support structure as well as group and individual counseling sessions. Many of our clients find the support offered by being in a place for a period of time with people experiencing the same kind of issues, a valuable part of their recovery process. Addicts can support and encourage fellow addicts in a remarkable and unique way and this is why we always encourage people to spend time as part of a recovery community. Cape Town Rehab offers this experience and strong friendships are inevitably formed.
After the initial month in a rehab center many choose to continue their recovery at home with support but many choose to stay on to build upon what they have learnt. If at all possible, the second option is advisable as the longer a person stays the better the chance they have of remaining clean and sober long into the future. We also work with a number of Secondary, Tertiary and Sober Houses to take that support as far as the individual wishes to go.
Re-integration into society or ‘normal life’ as many like to call it is an important process. The beauty of recovery in Cape Town and South Africa as a whole is that there is a thriving recovery community out there including meetings every day of the week to enable the person to keep working and playing an active part in theirs and their fellow addicts recoveries. Cape Town Rehab offers everything for the addict and is one of the best places in the world to experience and enjoy recovery.
